Apple Sauce Cake Wondra-The BEST Cake Ever!

Apple Sauce Cake Wondra

2.5 cups          flour (Wondra cake flour or all-purpose flour)

2 cups                         sugar

1.5 tsp.            baking powder

1.5 tsp.            baking soda

1.5 tsp.            salt

0.75 tsp.         cinnamon

0.5 tsp.            cloves

0.5 tsp.            allspice

0.5 cup           shortening (softened)

0.5 cup           water

1.5 cup           applesauce

2                      eggs (room temperature)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour bundt style baking pan. Blend ingredients using a mixer: 30 seconds on low speed, 3 minutes on medium speed. Bake for 50 – 60 minutes, check with toothpick, make sure it comes out clean when inserted into the cake. Let cool for 30 minutes then remove from pan.

Icing:

3 ounces         cream cheese (softened)

0.5 tsp.            almond extract

2 cups             powdered sugar

1-4 tbsp.         milk or water (as needed to obtain the desired consistency of icing)

Blend well in mixer. Place dollops of icing over top of cake.
